Adam King’s work includes paintings, sketches and prints, responding to his surroundings through representation of the architectural and natural world. He uses a range of media and techniques, but his work is usually characterised by a colourful palette and free style of mark making.
Adam’s main media are acrylic paint and wax resist mixed media, the latter being used mainly for his architectural work which brings a fresh approach to images of the built environment.
The paintings of birds, dogs and flowers are deceptively simple, capturing the essence of his subjects through a sureness of composition and brushwork.
His most recent work, Fascinated by the Sea is a series of oil paintings inspired by the sights and feelings engendered by living and working through a Scarborough summer.
