Angela’s current work explores camera-less photography using an alternative printing process called cyanotype. Working in her studio darkroom, she produces photograms by placing three dimensional objects directly onto hand-coated paper. When exposed to ultraviolet light a chemical reaction occurs generating an insoluble Prussian blue.
She uses objects connected to the feminine and domestic function – garments of antiquity, such as a dress, bridal veil, lace collar. The variation of shape and opacity of each item creates a blend of tones and the sense of overlapping forms.
Angela produces notecards for £2.95. Prices for unframed originals range from £10 (10x15cm) to £800 (152x121cm).
