Greening Arts Practice

A new professional development programme to support artists’ practice and engagement with climate change and related environmental and sustainability issues.

Chrysalis Arts Development is launching a new programme of talks and discussions incorporating a diverse range of approaches to art, ecological and sustainability issues. The programme should be of interest to artists who are thinking about how they can get involved in these issues as an evolving part of their practice as well as those who are already working in this area. It will involve artists, curators, producers and those who work with them with the aim of offering different perspectives and experiences and overcoming some of the barriers and perceptions that currently restrict creative participation.

What artists say about our services

“I received excellent support from Art Connections – practical advice, liaison support with the host organisation, arranging mentor support, financial and promotional assistance with the exhibition. I felt confident I had their full support as artist in residence.”
Andrew Cheetham, Painter, Scarborough

“The opportunity to spend time with a professional such as Grace has given me the incentive and nudge to ‘up my game’ and take a few risks in terms of both what I make and my aspirations. It has both expanded my horizons and my practice.”
Barbara Cassell, Jeweller & Hat Maker, Harrogate

“Thank you so much for your invaluable lesson you gave me yesterday in social media. I thoroughly enjoyed your tutorial, you explained everything so well and inspired me.”
Anita Bowerman, Painter & Paper Artist, Harrogate

“I thought the day was excellent. Lots of substance, great speakers and a really heartening positive attitude about trying to earn a living in the arts.”
Helen Graham, Visual Artist
