Frank Gordon’s work concentrates on the tension between the recall of intense first-hand experience and more painterly concerns of colour and form. He works in a full range of painting media, enjoying the varied qualities each brings to the picture-making process. Directly observed drawings in all seasons and weathers are supplemented with photographs. These, together with memory and imagination, are combined in making the finished work. His belief is that one of the artist’s main concerns is a revelatory one.
