Ian Scott Massie
Ian Scott Massie was born in London in 1952. He grew up in Buckinghamshire close to the childhood home of Paul Nash – an abiding influence in his work. He worked first in oils and screen printing before he specializing in watercolour.
He has focused for some years on single themed exhibitions including The Buildings of York (Blake Gallery, York), Paintings of Fountains Abbey (Fountains Hall, near Ripon) and From William’s Words (Rydal Mount, Ambleside). In addition to this he exhibits regularly at galleries throughout Britain. The Masham Gallery is the principal outlet for his work.
His books of stories, painting and poetry include Tales of the Dales, Under a Northern Sky and Journeys and he has written for The Artist, Art Business Today and Artists and Illustrators Magazine.
In 2012 he was a finalist for the Neo Print Prize and the Flourish Print Award.
In 2010 he was a founding partner in Artison art and craft workshops and has organized events for Masham Arts Festival since 2003.
His work varies in scale from 20x30cm up to 1×1.3m. His prices range from £150 to £1300.
