CONNECTIONS NORTH – INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISTS
DEADLINE 31 OCTOBER
Chrysalis Arts has been developing relationships with artists and arts organisations in Finland and Ireland for over ten years. This work has been based on the wish to work with partners in regions which have a clear synergy with North Yorkshire and which can offer direct benefits to North Yorkshire practitioners through artistic collaborations, residency opportunities and other professional development opportunities. The network is currently being widened to include venues and organisations in West Sweden.

The funding currently available for this activity is via the Dales LEADER Programme which means that only artists based in this area are eligible for support. To check if you are in the area go to http://www.yorkshiredalesleader.co.uk/local-development-strategy Future plans are to secure further funding which will enable us to widen the opportunity to artists throughout North Yorkshire.
Three artists from the area are taking part in the programme this Autumn. David Cook and Heather Cook are undertaking a residency at the Jyvaskyla Printmaking Centre in Central Finland and Katherine Holmes is undertaking a residency in Kilkenny, Ireland. A further three opportunities are now available for research visits and short residencies. Each provides funding of £1500 to cover travel and accommodation towards the visit. All visits must be completed by December 2012.
Information can be obtained about the organisations interested in hosting an artist’s visit and the facilities available from Rick Faulkner (01756 749222) or Christine Keogh (01756 748529). In all cases, the visits are subject to negotiation with the host organisations and will be facilitated by Chrysalis Arts.
Artists are then free to organise their own itineraries. Several of the organisations have specialist facilities eg for printmaking, sculpture, ceramics. Others offer studio space, often with subsidised accommodation, in a variety of locations. We are interested in hearing from artists at a range of career stages who feel that they would benefit from these opportunities and would like further information.
To register an interest please send your CV and a short summary about why you feel that this opportunity could be of benefit to you to: christine@art-connections.org.uk
