Jaki Bogg
Textiles
Drawing is integral to Jaki’s work. She uses hand and machine embroidery to ‘draw’ on old woollen blankets, hand-dyed felt and butter muslin, and experiments with vegetation and household mordents, wrapping her fabrics in leaves, berries, bark and ephemeral objects. Rusty bits of iron work particularly well, leaving beautiful traces on the fabric. It is important these swatches are used to transcend the experiment and Jaki makes garments with simple running stitch, and simple bodies onto which the garments are fitted.
