Joan Newall has a first class honours degree in textiles and print making from Bradford University, is a Member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen and teaches contemporary textiles and book making. She exhibits widely as a solo exhibitor and as a member of Page Paper Stitch.
Her work is concerned with narrative and process, with a strong leaning towards autobiographical events.
Materials are mixed media almost always including cloth, wax, stitch and paper. The use of text forms an integral part of her work.
