Katharine Holmes is an artist who has become known for her paintings of the Northern British landscape, predominantly her native Yorkshire Dales. She paints both in her Dales studio and outside in all weathers often incorporating elements of the landscape such as grasses and gravels found on site into her paintings. Working in a range of media from oil on canvas to acrylic and watercolour on paper her paintings and drawings sell from £400 to £12,000.
From a small sketchbook drawing to a two meter wide canvas her work captures the feeling of being in the landscape. Exhibiting her work nationally and internationally her paintings are in many private and corporate collections including that of Leeds University where she had her first major solo exhibition in 1999. In 2009 she returned to The Stanley and Audey Burton Gallery, Leeds University to show new paintings and a large installation of drawings as part of a large retrospective exhibition “A Malham Family of Painters”.
