Since gaining a first class BA (Hons) in Applied Creative Design in 2011, specialising in printmaking, Pam Grimmond has been working as a self-employed artist and printmaker. She specialises in linoprints but also create screen-prints, wood engravings and collages. Commissions include work for Ascot House Hotel, Harrogate, and a cover design for the quarterly literary magazine, Slightly Foxed, due to appear in Autumn 2014.
Pam is inspired by nature in countryside and coastal areas. Attracted by the colours, movements and characters of birds, she observes their habits and environments and attempts to give a glimpse into their secret worlds.
Shapes and forms within rural and urban architecture are a constant source of fascination: quirky elements of buildings such as turrets, domes and weathervanes often find their way into her work.
She works by developing drawings into areas of colour and texture, which are then transferred to blocks of lino, prior to cutting. This process allows Pam to build up images in layers, creating exciting and unexpected effects. She produces her prints by hand in small editions.
Pam’s work is exhibited both locally and nationally and ranges from small wood engravings to larger prints and collages. Prices range from £92 – £225.
